Facilities & Accommodations:
All classes are held at CAM Headquarters (unless otherwise noted), located at 43636 Woodward Avenue in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (see map on page 2 of this catalog). Classes will be held in the main Training Center, located on the first floor, unless otherwise specified. Free parking is available at the facility. Classes begin promptly at the advertised starting time. It is suggested that students dress casually and arrive 15-20 minutes early. Students arriving after the scheduled start time of evening classes must ring the doorbell for entrance into the CAM building. The CAM building doors will be locked promptly at 5:00 p.m. Please park under or near the building overhang and use the front (west) door for entrance into the building for evening classes. CAMTEC programs are the property of CAMTEC or contracted training companies, therefore audio recording or videotaping is not allowed. CAMTEC students shall not bring non-registered guests to class without prior written consent of the CAMTEC manager. All non-registered guests, including children, will not be allowed to enter the building without prior notification and consent.
Cancellation & Refund Policy:
CAMTEC reserves the right to cancel programs for any reason. Tuition will be refunded in full, or applied to future class offerings at the discretion of the student(s). CAMTEC is not responsible for losses to attendees resulting from cancellation of program(s). Please read CAMTEC policies thoroughly. Policies will be strictly enforced without consideration. Students are encouraged to call for clarification of policies before deadlines.
Refund:
Refunds, minus a 25% processing fee, will be given to registrants whose cancellations are received in writing at least 5 business days before the program begins.
Forfeiture:
Students failing to attend class, register or cancel registration prior to 5 business days before class starts will forfeit the full program fee. Students shall contact CAMTEC for clarification of course descriptions prior to registration if questions arise. CAMTEC will not refund tuition for students failing to obtain course clarification or perquisites 5 business days prior to class start. Member and non-member rates apply for tuition. CAM members in good standing, and their employees, are eligible for the member tuition rate. A confirmation letter and travel directions to the Training Center will be sent one week prior to the start of class. Registrations should be made at least 2 weeks (10 business days) prior to the start of class. A $25.00 administrative fee will be assessed beginning 5 business days before a class start date.
Students interested in registering within 5 business days before class should call CAMTEC for course availability.
Substitutions:
Registrations may be transferred to another individual up to 5 business days prior to the start of class without loss of tuition fees. CAMTEC bears no responsibility for arrangements between the original registrant and his or her substitution.
Weather:
Cancellations due to poor weather conditions will be advertised, along with other school closings, on television channels NBC, ABC and the Fox Network; and on radio stations WWJ and WJR. Please look for information about the Construction Association of Michigan Training & Education Center (CAMTEC). Decisions regarding class cancellations will be made no later than 7:00 a.m. for day classes, and 3:00 p.m. for evening classes.
Certification/Certificates of Attendance:
Participants in any of the CAMTEC sponsored programs will receive a Certificate of Participation that serves as a record of attendance. One Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is awarded for each ten contact hours of instruction. Educational units are awarded in accordance with guidelines set forth by the National Task Force on the Continuing Education Unit. Students must attend 75% of all class time to be eligible to receive CEUs and a Certificate of Completion.
Example: A program providing 17 contact hours (instructional hours) will award 1.7 CEUs. Programs with less than 8 contact hours are awarded CEUs based on the recommendation of the education manager. Continuing Education Units serve as a means of recognizing students for their efforts toward enhancement of their knowledge of the construction industry. Permanent participant records are maintained at CAMTEC for all seminars, workshops and classes sponsored by CAM. Cumulative records for each individual participant are available, and may be issued as an official statement/transcript upon written request of the participant and submission of a $20.00 administrative/research fee. Many licensing boards and professional organizations grant continuing education credit for attendance at CAMTEC. Check with individual organizations regarding their policies.
