Lead Planner and Principal Socioeconomic Forecaster
at the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG)
Jeff Nutting is lead planner and principal socioeconomic forecaster at the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG), located in Detroit, MI. An expert in land use modeling, Nutting has more than 20 years of experience in socioeconomic forecasting and has overseen the development of six regional forecasts of population, employment, and land use change in Southeast Michigan during his tenure at SEMCOG.
A graduate of Wayne State University with a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Nutting is a member of the American Planning Association, a recipient of Governor Granholm’s Leadership Award for service to the planning profession, and a graduate and former board member of Leadership Canton.
Michigan Chief Economist and the Director of the Office of Revenue
and Tax Analysis in the Michigan Department of Treasury
Eric Bussis serves as the state’s chief economist and the director of the Office of Revenue and Tax Analysis in the Michigan Department of Treasury. As chief economist, Eric is responsible for forecasting economic activity, estimating and tracking state government revenues, and estimating the fiscal impact of proposed tax legislation. Eric advises the Governor, State Treasurer, State Budget Director, and the administration on economic, tax, and revenue issues. He is responsible for the administration’s economic and revenue forecasts.
Prior to his current role, he held various lead budget, financial, and economic positions in the Michigan State Budget Office and the Indiana Office of Management and Budget. Eric holds a Bachelor’s Degree in economics from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Master’s Degree in economics from Indiana University-Indianapolis.
